Hi Johan, this was only paper traded and to be quite honest, I’m not sure. It looks like there were 21 selections made as lays at £10. But I don’t know if they lost or won? I’ll drop the software developer Nick a line and ask him if the results are recorded and if it shows the actual loss or if it just shows the stake. Either way I’ll pop up the profit or loss later.

Further to my post above, straight from the horse’s mouth so to speak. Same day support which is always a gold star in my book.

“Yes it only shows in the transaction log, but does not show the loss, only the amount bet.

Indeed we can add that to our list of improvements, and of course you can always go to http://www.uk-racing-results.com to confirm wins/losses for the day.

Your second comment too will be noted, and I will pass this onto our coder on the next round of upgrades.

    Thank you for your comments.

    Nick”

    Man of Mystery

Just had a look and there were 3 losers for me. My crap settings it seems. And in fairness Nick writes in the manual not to get involved with Towcester due to the last uphill furlong. For me to paper trade I’d like to have the results in the application so that’s it for the moment on InPlayMaster. The application worked satisfactorily and good support from Nick.

My other suggestion referred to by Nick above was to only take the selections from Betfair that InPlayMaster can work with. Right now it takes everything in the horse market. I also suggested an option to select them all automatically – after that has been done – rather than manually.

We’ll re-visit InPlayMaster when these huge improvements, IMO, have been made. They’ll be another software review starting next week.

i really cant see how these bots you set up can make a long term profit, are you doing this just for testing and fun? imo the only software you need is betangel, bettrader pro or gruss, and trade manually 10 mins before each race, which im sure you do anyway

    Man of Mystery

Hi Martin, I’m a long term user of Gary’s app, betting assistant. This blog was actually born out of excel triggered through BA. I had this sheet written for me by a chap called Ron and I named it the RonBot.

I was a day trader in the forex market but now I’m a position trader. In terms of trading on Betfair I personally find it a lot more difficult trading on Betfair! And IMO there are many other people out there like me.

I do like automated processes and in my other markets I use Expert Advisors programmed by my team. They are bots also and still trade daily – I just don’t get involved personally with short term positions any more.

Whilst I use Betting Assistant every day unless you want to tie yourself to the screen and trade select races where you will green up without much difficulty it still involves a lot of work locked in to a computer. That’s not what I want. Life is for living. I have had too many years of that. And I missed too much of what’s really important.

Martin, we are currently looking for guest authors and I would like to have a balanced betting blog rather than one focused on bots. Can you help by perhaps posting the odd article with your views on trading exchange markets? Lee would allocate you your own user name and ID and your posts would appear in the main run of the blog in date order.

Please let me know. At 46 for me to create good trading content perhaps with videos is just not what floats my boat. But I have been meaning to do it for a long time.

On a final note this blog does have a private syndicate open only to friends and family which has been consistently profitable with little effort for nearly two years. It’s bottastic. :-)

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to post. And have a great weekend.

thanks for the reply mate. As for being a guest author il have a think about it and let you know when ive decided. So how do i become a member of this private syndicate?

Also one more quick question, instead of using betbotpro, can the same system be setup in excel using bet angel? Such as the recovery system you have.

    Man of Mystery

If you can use Excel then you’ll be able to do it. I still chuckle remembering when I was speaking to Peter Webb on the show in the player and I said you couldn’t do Excel triggered betting with Bet Angel. They introduced it after Betting Assistant and I didn’t know.

So, yes you can Martin. And sorry mate but due to FSA and MFSA regulations which cover gambling syndicates where there is a pool of money AND you wouldn’t have control then this site could fall under the terms of advertising which would be illegal. If I took investments from people I don’t know through this blog it may be deemed advertising and and could then contravene the Collective Investment Schemes Act.

I’d love to make a test case on this because, IMO, it’s wrong if people are aware of the risks. But the law may be against me on this and I don’t want to fight governments any more. I’ve done enough of that in my time. And won. But I’ve calmed down now. :|

    hi m.o.m,
you emailed me from the forum on betfair when i was looking for advise on trading and where very helpful. I had a go using bettrader but found after several good trades the market would swing and ide be back to square 1, i know its possible to make a profit trading and have read many blogs of successful traders.
What advice would you give a person starting out down the trading route and what reading would you recommend i.e websites, books etc,

thanks again and great website, if you are taking any members for your betting bot let me know

    Man of Mystery

    Hi Barry,

I’m glad you found it useful. I haven’t traded for a whole day on Betfair for some time now. There are a number of reasons for this. The main one being I don’t particularly like the intensity that comes with trading UK horse racing.

These days there are better people than me to comment trading in today’s Betfair markets. Leon above certainly being one of them. Also, a week tomorrow they’ll be Michael Baker as my guest on WUBT Betting Exchange Radio. He trades daily and frequently from the trading floor in Canary Wharf, London. You can rent a seat there.

Regarding the syndicate, unfortunately, due to FSA regulations it can only be open to friends and family. If that changes then you can rest assured I’ll let everyone know here.

No problem with you recommending your blog Leon. I read it every day. We’re both part of the BBC – Betting Blog Community – and as Ray The Sports Trader said on his first appearance on WUBT over a year ago blogs are about helping everyone. If any single post helps anyone, anywhere, in any blog then it makes it all worthwhile.

Barry you may also be interested in my guest tomorrow. Back by popular demand on WUBT Betting Exchange Radio — he was last on over a year ago — is Brian Coplin.

Brian has now finished the accounts for November and was pleasantly surprised by his profit. It now means that in the last 4 months he has made more than his full time job before tax.

You’ll be able to find out how he’s done that, live, with me tomorrow, Wednesday 10th December 2008, at 1.00pm UK time.

Ladies and Gents have a great day and good luck to you all, as always.
