There is one result the big bookmaking firms don’t need this weekend and that’s a victory for Shelbourne Aston in the final of the paddypower.com Irish Derby final.
Already this year many of them have taken a sucker punch from Shelbourne Aston. That was back in late July when the Pat Curtin trained dog arrived late and fast to win the Boylesports Champion Stakes. In the process he landed a touch of approximately a quarter of a million Euro for connections.
But if he wins Saturday’s Paddy Power Derby final the pay-out would be double the Champion take. The intrepid Curtin admits that they have “backed the dog after every round of the Derby, we are on at a lowest price of 10-1 and a biggest of 33-1”
